Library Launch Day on Monday 28th January- Dress as a BookCharacter
Some of you may have already heard that our school library has been closed with windows covered in black to allow us to make secret upgrades and improvements around a new theme. After research completed by our school councillors, we have started to create a space that will inspire and encourage our children’s love for reading even more. The decorations inside are evolving and the book shelves are being updated and organised differently. We are very excited to see the children’s reactions when they finally get to go in and explore!
Our library launch will be on Monday 28th January and to celebrate this, all children, teachers and teaching assistants are going dress up as their favourite book character to immerse them into the library unveiling. Your child’s chosen outfit can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. We have chosen to support the charity: Cancer Support Unit in Southend and would like to ask for a £1 donation for the theme day to raise vital funds for this unit that is solely funded on donations. We thank you in advance for your contributions.
A new feature of our library will include an ‘Author of the Month’. Our first author is David Walliams and we have dramatically improved the range and amount of texts that will be available from this author. If your child chooses to bring home a book from the author of the month, we ask that once read and discussed, your child completes a review of the book which will be available in the library, that will then be placed into the book for the next person to take note of. This is to develop children’s reasoning skills and encourage others to pick up the book to read too.
Reading books are also available in class book corners for the children to access and take home to enjoy.
Thank you for your support as always!
