ESSEX FINALS HERE WE COME!

Our year 5/6 boys attended the biggest football tounament in Southend at Alleyn Court. A massive 31 schools attended and we came an amazing 2nd! Only conceeding 1 goal all day.

We started the morning off winning our league unbeaten. Winning 1 - nil, 1 - nil, 2 - nil. The matches were very short and the boys had to work hard and fast to score.

In the afternoon we were through to the super 16 and entered the second group phase of the day. The boys came out firing on all cylinders and won the first match 3 - nil. Our over confidence nearly lost us the second match but thanks to some great work from our keeper we hung on to a nil- nil draw. This left us needing to win our final match to get through to the semi finals. You would not of known they were under any pressure, quickly scoring 2 goals and confidently winning to make it through to the semis.

After a 4 way penalty shoot out to decide one of the other groups, we were up against the first team we  had played. They certainly made it a lot harder the second time round with both teams having some fantastic chances and the game being forced into extra time. Thankfully our boys didn't wait too long into extra time to score and hang on, to make it to the final.

The other semi final match went all the way to penalties.

The final was a battle of true champions and unfortunately the only goal conceeded all day arrived. A beautiful corner landing square on the attackers head at the back post, then thundering into the net. We fought back bravely and fiercely, creating some excellent chances but just couldnt hit the back of net.

After an amazing day of lovely football, tearing some teams apart, we have qualified for the Essex finals coming up at the end of the month. We all look forward to the challenge.
