First of all I would like to thank all the parents and children...

First of all I would like to thank all the parents and children who contributed to the wonderful Christmas presents all the staff who work with Birch class received before the holiday. Your generosity is greatly appreciated - Thank you.

As you know, the class was given the gift of a sponsor orangutan who lives at Colchester zoo, and we are waiting for our first update from the zoo as to how he/she is getting on.

Since the start of the new term, we have been immersing ourselves into our new topic of 'Frozen Kingdoms'. The children have been learning all about the polar regions and all the wonders and mysteries of the Arctic and Antarctic. We have been learning about the climate and landscape, the wildlife, natural resources, indigenous people and the impact of human activity on these beautiful landscapes. In addition, we have been learning about climate change and how this effects these beautiful frozen kingdoms.

This is another busy and important term and it is great to see the energy and determination that so many of the class have begun the term with. It is clear that we have started the year in the right way as we were the first winners of class of the week for 2020 and came a close second in week 2.

Have a fantastic couple of weeks!
