Year 5 were lucky enough to have some super EGGciting visitors for the last two weeks. All the children have been given the chance to call themselves 'Mother Hen!' On Tuesday, after the half term holiday, 14 little eggs arrived in an incubator ready to hatch. We had lots of little chicks born on Wednesday and Thursday. It was very exciting seeing the tiny creatures using their beaks to tap the shell and work hard to escape. Unfortunately, one of the eggs didn't hatch and another was born with a poorly leg or back (Lopsy- as we called it, was taken to the chick emergency room and hopefully made a recovery). This was a great life lesson for the children and we saw many sympathetic moments when looking after Lopsy. The chicks grew, got fluffier, smellier and had more cuddles. We had a brilliant time with them and it will be a memory many of us will cherish for years.
