Year 5 have loved learning about the Ancient Greeks
Year 5 have loved learning about the Ancient Greeks and studying all of the different aspects of their life from the fascinating Gods and Goddesses to the amazing myths. To support our studies, we had a wonderful Greek Day where the children fully immersed themselves in Greek life. There were some superb costumes and we were so impressed with the effort everybody had gone to for the day. We had some superb heroes ad heroines as well as some interesting mythical characters.
During the day, the children played different Greek games and puzzles, researched particular areas of Greek life and even competed in their own Olympic Games as Sparta against Beech who were Athens. The Games weren’t exactly like those of Ancient times but it was fun to get involved in a competition and imagined what it would have been like to enter the event and represent their city state.
The children were also given a clear description of the different weapons and armoury worn by the Spartan army. They took part in different dramas to show some of the famous battles and imagined what it would have been like to be involved in some of the famous moments of history.
Throughout the day, the children were fabulous and it was lovely for Beech and Hazel to work together for the day and share the experience as a large Year 5 team.
Thank you to everyone for the hard work in preparing the children and their costumes for the day.
Here are just a few photographs from the day but please check out the rest at BGJS News Gallery 2017/2018.
