A wonderful day in London with a wonderful class of children!

Year 5 had a wonderful trip to London on Wednesday.  After a great coach journey, they caught the boat from Embankment Pier  for a wonderful journey along river where they identified key places of interest including Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Tower Bridge (which we climbed earlier this year).  They then enjoyed lunch in the sunshine in Greenwich Park before walking back to Greenwich Pier to get their return boat journey. After docking back at Embankment Pier, they walked to the Lyceum Theatre for their matinee performance of The Lion King. The children loved it the awe and wonder of the stage show and marvelled at the beautiful costumes, puppetry and stage production.  After watching the performance (and their interval ice cream!) they enjoyed a question and answer session  with some of the cast. It was a such an honour and a wonderful way to end the day.

As always, Hazel Class were a pleasure to take and so many members of the public commented on their behaviour, enthusiasm and manners.  A superb day with a superb group of children!  We are always so proud of them and it was lovely to see other people notice what we see every day.

On return, the children discussed the show and watched some behind the scenes clips to let us into the secrets behind the spectacular!  Here are some of Isabella Read’s highlight from the day!

The Lion King

On Wednesday 5th July 2017, we had the most fabulous school trip in history! We went to see the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre, in London.

When we came back to school we watched some clips of behind-the-scenes action. They showed us, (on the clip) all the mechanical movement of puppets and asks during the show which you would not notice at all if you were paying attention.

My favourite character is Rafiki. She was very funny and always surprised me when she was on stage.

My favourite pieces of music in the production was:

  1. The Circle of Life
  2. I Just Can’t Wait To Be King
  3. Can You Feel The Love Tonight!
  4. All the songs!

I loved it all!
