Brilliant Bread Making!
On Thursday 18th October, Year 4 made bread as part of their DT Topic. This also linked to our science topic – changing states. After learning about bread from around the world, we measured, mixed and kneaded our dough, ready to take home and bake! The children had a lot of fun getting messy and also learning a lot about yeast/the reaction taking place. We learnt that yeast cells thrive on simple sugars, which were part of our recipe. As the sugars are absorbed, carbon dioxide is released into the bread dough, making it rise. We look forward to Year 4 bringing in their pictures from home of their finished bread!
