It has been another busy and productive couple of weeks in Birch class.
It has been another busy and productive couple of weeks in Birch class. We have been discussing democracy in the past week or so in the build up to the elections for house captains and school council representatives. The children that put themselves forward should feel really proud of having the courage and confidence to speak in front of such a large group of children so eloquently. Congratulations to all the house and vice captains that were elected and the staff were so impressed by the candidates that we have offered all those that ran for election the opportunity to stand on the school council, should they wish.
Additionally, we have been delving deeper into our topic of ID and have written some excellent reports on fingerprints. These reports tell the reader what they are, why they are unique and how they are crucial in crime scenes and catching criminals! In maths we have been revising negative numbers and using the four operations ( addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) effectively. Birch have been put through their paces in PE this week and have performed some impressive routines, in pairs, using apparatus. The children were set the challenge of including the movements: under, over and through along with a mirrored balance. Some photos of the routines are attached to give you an idea of what we achieved.
It was great to see so many parents at the annual family picnic and I was impressed that Mr Lupton managed to organise some good weather for us to enjoy on the day.
Have a fantastic couple of weeks!
