YEAR 5'S FANTASTIC TRIP TO LONDON!
Year 5 had an action packed day in our wonderful capital city last Wednesday.
Year 5 had an action packed day in our wonderful capital city last Wednesday. The day began with a trip to Greenwich and a visit to the National Maritime Museum. The children had the opportunity to marvel at the different collections and also use the tablets provided to work on “The Great Map” where they needed to work collaboratively to solve a set of puzzles based on the World Map. After enjoying a lovely picnic in the sunshine, we all walked together to Greenwich Pier where we boarded a boat for Embankment. The children loved admiring the view of the River Thames and all of the wonderful landmarks which we passed on the way including St. Paul’s Cathedral, Shakespeare’s Globe and The Shard. It was amazing travelling underneath the fabulous bridges, especially Tower Bridge!
We disembarked at Embankment and then walked sensibly to the Lyceum Theatre ready for our matinee performance of “The Lion King”. The children were fabulous and thoroughly enjoyed the masterpiece. It was wonderful to see their faces light up when all of the different characters walked through the aisles and took to the stage. After learning about some of the behind the scenes preparation in our English lessons, it was great to see how it all came together. After the performance (and a tasty ice cream in the interval) we were lucky enough to have two actors (including the man who played Scar) join us for a question and answer session. It was fabulous and so insightful!
A wonderful day was had by all. Thank you so much to everybody who came with us and helped make the day such a success.
