Hazel Class have been studying rivers, in particular the River Thames, and the features of rivers. We also thought about rivers has habitats and the different species that live there. The children were shown a variety of different images and designed a creature that they would like to make out of clay. We had some superb designs of swans, fish, turtles and ducks. The children thought about perspective and drew their design from different viewpoints.
On Friday, the children then had the opportunity to make their creature out of clay. They thought about their design, making changes where necessary, and how best to manipulate the clay to make the desired creature. They were superb! The children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and were incredibly proud of what they had produced.
We cannot wait to glaze them once they have been fired!
