STARGAZING AT THE PLANETARIUM!

Last Thursday, Hazel Class visited the Southend Planetarium, to help us leap into our exciting new topic, 'Stargazers'.

Last Thursday, Hazel Class visited the Southend Planetarium, to help us leap into our exciting new topic, 'Stargazers'. Inside the dark, small (and rather cosy!) Planetarium, we gazed up at the dome-shaped ceiling and marvelled at the night sky. We learnt more about the Solar System, the Moon, various star constellations and why we have night and day time. It was wonderful to see the children bursting with questions, whilst also sharing lots of their new knowledge that they had been learning in class. The trip really immersed us in the mind-blowing subject of space and all of its incredible facts. We are loving this topic!

We also had an opportunity to explore the fascinating Southend Museum, where there were exhibitions on local Victorian and Anglo Saxon history, as well as nature in the estuary.

This week we have been busy soaking up more information about the moon, its phases and how Galileo Galilei influenced what we know about space today. We have also been keeping a close eye on the Moon at night time- did you see the Full Moon? We have already covered so much and yet there are still so many questions we are yet to delve deeper into!

We will keep you posted on our upcoming 'Stargazing' adventures.
