The main focus for Hazel Class between Monday to Wednesday this week was Stubbers! From the very first minute, children were ‘on the go’, with 7 x 90 minute activity sessions packed into their three days. The base for their stay was a building called Maple Lodge, which housed all the facilities needed. The children soon settled into their own space; sharing a room with friends they’d requested.
Within a few minutes of arrival, children were participating in the first of their adventurous activities; making new bonds with children they may not have worked with before, takings turns, sharing ideas, using skills of balance and coordination and learning through play.
In the evening, children came together for their evening meal then out for a whole class activity, Monday was a walk around the vast Stubbers grounds and Tuesday was a choice of games or a craft activity. This was followed by the very popular campfire, sing song and toasted marshmallows!
Each evening, children would get ready for bed then sit down quietly as a class and reflect on their day through their diary entries. This was followed by the very popular Stubbers’ Stars awards (children picked out by their team leader for shining during one of the day’s activities), then the informative and amusing room inspection reports. Finally off to bed!
The children certainly seemed to enjoy their stay, with different stories being told by each group of amusing incidents or memorable moments!
Well done to the children of Hazel class for making our time at Stubbers so memorable, and a big well done for all of you being in school on Thursday… I certainly found it tough Thursday morning!
Proud teacher, Mr Hinds.
