THERE'S SOMETHING FISHY GOING ON IN ELM CLASS!

Elm class have been extremely busy since our last blog.

Elm class have been extremely busy since our last blog. They have creatively designed their own sea creature, then transformed their designs into clay. Once biscuit fired, they colourfully glazed each ceramic piece carefully for its second firing in the kiln. The end results are stunning!

Another creative activity was turning plastic bottles into fish; an activity even Jesus would’ve struggled with! Using hacksaws and scissors to reshape the bottles, children used various materials to produce a colourful, glow-in-the-dark fish. Children also learnt about bioluminescence, the natural glow-in-the-dark produced by some living organisms.

Bikeability took place on Monday, with children bringing their own bicycles and helmets in if they had them. Three instructors taught them how they could regularly check the maintenance on their bikes, along with other safety tips. After being divided into groups, the children took to the playground on their bikes to learn the skills to achieve level one in proficiency. Non-riders were given one to one help to try and help them begin to cycle independently. Even though it was a very wet afternoon and there was a couple of minor scrapes, the children seemed to thoroughly enjoy it!

I would like to wish you a very happy half term break, and I look forward to seeing all the children on their return after the holiday.
