SUPERB DAY AT COLCHESTER CASTLE!

Oak Class have just started learning about The Romans during their History lessons. To inspire their curiosity and give them the opportunity to learn even more, we visited Colchester Castle. The children were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the spread of the Roman Empire and how their legacy lives on.
The children had the opportunity to look for different Roman artefacts from coins to Roman helmets, try on different clothing and marvel had models depicting the different iconic structures from the Romans. They also went back in time as they ventured into the foundations of the castle and into the vaults. Here, they had an expert tell them all about the rise of the Empire and the role of certain key individuals including Boudica and Emperor Claudius.
In the afternoon, they worked collaboratively to build a Roundhouse or Roman Villa. They had to follow instructions and work as a team to build the different structure. It allowed them to compare the different types of home from the past.
Oak Class are always amazing and impeccably well behaved. Our visit, once again, showed how great they are and wonderful ambassadors they are for the school.
Thank you to everyone who accompanied us on our visit. We hope you enjoyed yourself too!
